Pilot Program Application Period Closes for Algorand Community Relay Node Running

By

Algorand Foundation

20th July 2021 - Algorand, together with our community, is building a trusted, public and permissionless infrastructure for the borderless economy. In support of further decentralization of the Algorand ecosystem, we recently launched a pilot program for running relay nodes on the Algorand network. The purpose of this initiative is twofold: first to enable more parties to take an active role in our community and second, to increase the diversity and number of relay nodes, ensuring the continued health and operation of the network.

The application period is now closed with the deadline for submissions having closed on July 12th, 2021. We are excited with the high level of interest shown by the community in the Pilot Relay Node Running Program. The interest shown in this pilot program shows the community are committed to the ongoing and continued health and operation of the Algorand network. We have received a total of 105 submissions from geographical locations around the globe and our team have now started work on evaluating the proposals received. Please be advised our team may reach out to some of the submitters with requests for additional information or for clarifications regarding their submissions.

As advised, the scope of this initial program is for six months starting in Q4 2021, but we do intend to extend this scope if the pilot program is successful. The list of the 20 successful program recipients are available here.

Decisions are at the Algorand Foundations sole and absolute discretion.
